e-Learning

A growing element of ‘Blended Learning’ in maritime education — and the work of GlobalMET’s e-Learning Development Guidelines Working Group.

Blended Learning in MET

A greater role for e-learning at sea

e-Learning will play a greater role as an element of ‘Blended Learning’ in MET. As a service to the industry, GlobalMET has formed an e-Learning Development Guidelines Working Group.

Working Group terms of reference

The e-Learning Development Guidelines Working Group operates under the following terms of reference:

1

Determine and express the need for guidelines for the development and delivery of e-learning for seafarers and others in the global shipping industry.

2

Formulate guidelines, possibly in collaboration with the aviation industry and the Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC), and obtain GlobalMET Board agreement to the draft guidelines.

3

Formulate a strategy for the promulgation and acceptance of the guidelines by the industry.

4

Obtain industry agreement and support for the guidelines, with eventual adoption. Input from GlobalMET members and others will be sought through this portal.
